What is Modern Farmhouse Design?
Modern industrial interior design is a style that evokes feelings of warmth and comfort with vintage furnishings and traditional materials.
Everything is tactile and tangible. Most of all, modern farmhouse style is cozy without being cluttered as it keeps accessories at a minimum.
Organic Materials
One of the key elements to this style is using more organic materials such as wood, stone, wicker, and rattan to keep the space feeling as though it is connected to the outdoors.
Tip: Since this style is mostly made up of neutral colours, the mix of the different materials help to provide some dimension to the space and transform a room.
Keep Accessories to a Minimum
Accessories often provide personality and contrast to a space, but in keeping to this style, one must remember to keep them to a minimum and instead trust that a few well-placed items complete the look.
Tip: Natural elements, pottery, brushed metal pieces or baskets often are selected to add a unique touch to the space.
Think Neutrals
Sticking to a palette of subtle whites, creams and soft grays will add to the contemporary freshness that the style requires. Couple this with some natural wood tones, especially ones with some scratches, knots and nicks, to add to the authenticity of the look.
Tip: If you are fond of colour, lean towards softer shades if possible or use the bold ones sparsely and purposefully as they may add a bit of edge to the space.
