About the Ritz-Carlton Toronto

Already the city’s most coveted social and business hotspot, the hotel is buzzing with activity. Suite owners at The Residences enjoy a lifestyle with access to remarkable amenities such as the hotel’s feature restaurant and bars, opulent spa, and the legendary level of service for which The Ritz‑Carlton is so well known. The spacious and gracious suites envelop residents in surroundings infused with natural light from massive windows. To fully comprehend the spectacular nature of these homes in the sky, tours of the two impeccable designer-decorated model suites are available. Exquisitely appointed by Alexander Donovan, Showroom Director at 1212 Décor, in a contemporary style with a nod to the transitional, the Park Avenue model suite invites you to indulge in sumptuousness. According to Donovan, “This suite was designed with the successful urbanite in mind. It is defined by elements chosen to reflect an appreciation for fine design, a refined space where the smallest details create a cosmopolitan environment. This is the perfect airy perch in the sky to entertain and enjoy magnificent views while dining in a sophisticated space. This buyer is a world traveller - an art lover and collector who enjoys unique and glamorous design.”

When it came to selecting furnishings, he says that every item was chosen for its structure with only the finest finishes and fabrics. “Our goal was to create a luxe and sophisticated backdrop for a collection of beautiful art. Every element in the suite is meant to showcase refined design with a nod to the glamorous, with silver leaf, polish nickel and lacquered Macassar Ebony finishes and the use of raw silk in the drapery, hand-knotted Tibetan carpets and imported Belgium linens.”

A neutral palette sets the tone for the space, which he explains allows the Larry Lazlo patterned dining chairs to speak of drama around the glamorous glass and mirror faceted oval dining base. “The use of colour is specific and yet subtle, highlighting the colours that are evident in the suite’s modernist art. The walls are painted a ‘Greige’ hue that serves as a subtle backdrop to the shimmering finishes along with the lustre of the Dupioni silk drapes that frame the views.”

A sculptural chandelier in silver leaf hangs over the Larry Lazlo glass-and-faceted mirror dining suite. Celtic-patterned cut velvet on Belgium linen covers the tall, dramatic chairs. In the living room, a Jean Michael Frank-inspired sofa in silver-hued silk velvet is paired with a lacquered veneer and stainless steel-based cocktail table. The hand-knotted Tibetan area carpet’s subtle range of colour evokes a cool wave passing from one end to the other, and the Thayer Coggin-designed chairs are covered in a faux snakeskin patterned fabric. The Laslo painting over the sofa punctuates the space with a dramatic visual. In the kitchen, a lacquered console in a rich Macassar Ebony and stainless base serves as a small desk. “You can sit in front of the floor-to-ceiling skyline view in a Lucite armchair while checking the stock market online over morning coffee,” Donovan says.

In the master bedroom, a commanding modern silver leafed canopy bed has a hint of the chinoiserie in design, and the Deco-inspired lounge chair is done in animal-patterned cut velvet. The architectural bedside tables in a rich deep walnut feature bent silver legs that sweep in semi-circular forms. The scene is set upon another rich cranberry and ochre-hued area carpet.

Situated in “Toronto’s new Yorkville” – with both the entertainment and financial districts only steps away, The Residences is walking distance to the exciting new TIFF Bell Lightbox, fantastic shopping, trendy and fine-dining restaurants, popular sports venues, the lake and many of the city’s other amenities. Right in the building, suite owners can access Toronto’s underground PATH system that links hundreds of shops and restaurants. Suite owners at The Residences have access to all the hotel amenities, including the opulent 23,000 square-foot spa, as well as their own exclusive amenities.
